Drake gets booed in Toronto during Limp Bizkit concert, after Fred Durst shouts him out [VIDEO]

Drake booed in hometown Toronto during Limp Bizkit concert

Drake long ago established himself as a force in the hip hop industry. As a result, he became the artist to put Toronto on the map. Previously, Toronto wasn’t fully taken seriously as a hip hop city. After Drake, however, it’s “the 6.” Through his career, there’s few artists Drake hasn’t touched. Many overlook the extensive history he has with Limp Bizkit. Now, people are only concerned with the Toronto crowd acting booing Drake, after Fred Durst shouted him out.

For a time, Drake and Limp Bizkit were label-mates. This was when Birdman signed Limp Bizkit to Cash Money Records. During this period of time, Cash Money was going through a major expansion. As a result, they had many high profile artists signed to the label. In addition, there were some artists signed to Cash Money via sub-labels. During this time, Lil Wayne’s Young Money was at its height. Also, DJ Khaled’s We The Best was under Cash Money and doing well. Then, Rick Ross discussed bringing MMG over.

However, due to Cash Money being a boutique label, at heart, slowly things dwindled. Many major artists who signed to the label left. Some expressed frustration in the process, while still showing love to the label, itself. In addition, there was Lil Wayne’s infamous split from the label. This left Drake, among others, in limbo. Eventually, it resulted in Drake’s overall deal with Universal Music Group. But even that didn’t save Drake from the backlash.

During the spring of 2024, Drake’s longtime collaborator, Future, released “Like That.” It was the lead single from his joint album with producer, Metro Boomin. The album is titled We Don’t Trust You. Thus, the title is a subtle diss towards Drake. In addition, “Like That” features Kendrick Lamar. His verse is aimed at both Drake and J. Cole. As a result, they were all drawn into a beef. This beef led to Drake being the target of a seemingly endless onslaught of insults from Kendrick Lamar.

Drake has had an unprecedented run atop of the rap game. His abilities to blend lyrics with harmonies often drew him comparisons to Ja Rule. Now, these comparisons are coming full circle. Most hip hop fans know of Ja Rule’s infamous and iconic feud with 50 Cent. However, their war of words ended with an unprecedented downfall of Rule. From the looks of things, Drake could experience a similar fate. After all, Drake isn’t even receiving love in his home town.

Most people credited Drake for putting Toronto’s hip hop scene on the map. Definitely, the spotlight cast by Drake shined on other Toronto artists. However, none of that means the city is supposed to love him back. As a result, Drake was the target of booing. Drake was simply enjoying a Limp Bizkit show in his home city. Thus, Fred Durst decided to shout him out. However, this proved to be a mistake. Almost immediately, the crowd began booing. As a result, people think Drake was the target.
