Drake earns gold certification for “Started from the Bottom”

Last year, Drake took time off and became one of the biggest guest features of the year, starting in the first week of 2012. Seeing how quickly Drake delivered his first two albums, many agreed in him needing time off. Coming into 2013, fans were eager to see what Drake had in store.

In January, most of the attention went to A$AP Rocky, Joe Budden, and Shawty Lo. But, once the second month entered, Drake reclaimed his position at the top of the rap game with “Started from the Bottom.” Drake later revealed his third album, Nothing Was the Same, is due later this year.

Countless rappers have jumped on Drake’s “Started from the Bottom.” These unofficial remixes and Drake’s own popularity and visibility at major events helped to push the song. Now, a little over a month since “Started from the Bottom” was released, Drake has earned a gold RIAA certification for the single.
