Drake has left Cash Money Records, after being signed to the label over the past nine years

In 2017, Drake effectively took the year off, dropping his More Life project and going about his business. The Toronto rapper became one of only two reasons Cash Money Records was still on top. Nicki Minaj was the other reason the label remained on top.

Behind the Young Money momentum, Birdman was able to enjoy an extended period on top of the game. Re-entering the game, in 2018, Drake immediately stole Cardi B’s thunder. This year has seen them as the two top rappers in the game.

Drake released his album, Scorpion, as a double album, and he came with the big singles. It turns out, there is a reason the album was a double album, and a reason J. Prince was talking the way he was. An announcement from Birdman let it be known Drake is no longer on Cash Money, explaining why his man was dissing his music, but he credited Drake for being the label’s most-consistent artist.
