Drake is the most-streamed artist of 2017, a year where he was virtually absent, as #MoreLife is the most-streamed hip hop album

Noticeably missing in the 2017 action was Drake, who has posted at least one hit record since 2009. This year, Drake released the playlist album, More Life, and faded from the spotlight. What ensued to happen is many other artists emerge, rising to stardom.

In 2017, DJ Khaled came in, looking to continue his strong run, which he did, as did Future. Then, there were triumphant comeback efforts from Kendrick Lamar and French Montana, as both rappers posted their biggest-ever hits. Of course, Cardi B cannot be overlooked.

However, with the final streaming numbers coming in, Drake is STILL the number one rapper in the game. With no new music in 2017, following the first quarter, Drake is the most-streamed artist. On top of that, More Life is the most-streamed hip hop album of the year.
