Immediately following the release of Thank Me Later, Drake fans were anticipating the release of his next album. Drake was very popular, as his music was a nice blend of rap and R&B. Months after the release of his debut album, Drake began discussing his sophomore album. Early in 2011, Birdman announced Drake’s sophomore album would be called Take Care.

Aside from the album title, there was no news about Take Care until the summer of 2011 and no official releases came until the fall. When Take Care finally hit stores, in November 2011, the album quickly hit number one on the charts. However, critics panned the album, calling Drake “soft,” something Common echoed on his single, “Sweet.”

Throughout the closing months of 2011 and the opening months of 2012, Drake and Common exchanged disses. All beef aside, Drake also revealed he would soon be working on his next album, something Birdman confirmed. During a recent interview in the United Kingdom, Drake discussed working with 2 Chainz and Rihanna, saying he wanted to record a joint album with her, and he also said he wants to work with Jamie Foxx on his upcoming third album.
