After the 2010 release of Thank Me Later, Drake made immediate plans to release his sophomore album. Birdman initially announced Drake would release his sophomore album during the early spring of 2011. Songs included on this album were released during this period of time, but Drake did not drop the full album until November.
During the early summer of 2011, Drake released “Marvin’s Room.” The song features Drake exclaiming something every man has felt at one time or another. But, toward the end of the song, Drake has a female on the phone. Once Take Care was released, Drake experienced much success off “Marvin’s Room.”
Early in 2012, Ericka Lee revealed she was the voice of the girl on the “Marvin’s Room” song and she was suing Drake for unpaid royalties. The situation was addressed by Drake through his legal team. Eventually, a settlement was reached as of February 2, but the details have not been released.
