Drake to hold Young Money down with Debut LP
Sources close to Young Money Entertainment say that Drake is close to complete with his debut album, Thank Me Later. With his So Far Gone mixtape, the Canadaian rapper unexpectedly took over the game. Drake has emerged as the first star under Lil Wayne’s watch.
By now, every hip hop fan knows that Lil Wayne is going to serve some prison time. As a result, Birdman, the CEO of Cash Money Records, is trying to release as much music as possible from Lil Wayne before he goes behind bars. Birdman said that he will have so much stuff out, that it will be hard to notice that Wayne had ever left.
That very well may be the case, but the fact remains that Lil Wayne will be gone. Trust that someone is going to fill his void. People within Wayne’s camp hope that person will be Drake. When asked about his upcoming album, Lil Wayne said that Drake is 100% complete with the album. The lead single is already out.
If Thank Me Later is anything like So Far Gone, Drake will indeed hold Young Money and the rap game down until Lil Wayne returns. The debut album from Drake is supposed to be released in February 2010 on Young Money, Cash Money, and Universal Records.
