Drake, long ago, redefined what it means to be a rap star, and he hasn’t looked back. From the beginning, he has played the game by his own rules. More often than not, Drake has won. As a result, he’s had a fourteen year run on top of the game. Much of his success, Drake credits to Houston. So, he spends a lot of time there. Last night, he was in the club, rocking some colorful hairclips.
Drake initially presented himself as a “backpack rapper.” On Thank Me Later, the Toronto rapper referred to himself as a “backpack rapper.” However, on that same album, Drake showed he was a little bit of everything. Given the chart performance of his singles, he proved he was going to be a force in the game for a long time to come.
Drake has faced a ton of scrutiny for doing things unlike how previous rap stars would. However, instead of this costing him fans, he seems to just get bigger. Even things like embarrassing disses from other rappers don’t seem to hurt him. As a result, Drake takes bigger chances. When he was in Houston, he took a photo with Beatking’s girlfriend, where he was wearing hairclips that make up the colors of the rainbow.
