Drakeo The Ruler’s family files lawsuit against festival promoters

Over a month ago, hip-hop lost one of its hottest rising artists, in Drakeo The Ruler. Drakeo was buzzing out of Los Angeles, and had a huge single out, with Drake. This was “Talk To Me,” which appeared on Drakeo’s 2021 “The Truth Hurts” album.

Drakeo went on to lose his life in mid-December, at the Once Upon A Time In LA festival. He ended up dying, as a result of being stabbed in the neck. Now, his family is filing a wrongful death and negligence lawsuit against organizers of the festival, according to ABC News.

Tianna Purdue, who is the mother of Drakeo’s 5-year-old son, announced this at a press conference. Attorneys also label Drakeo’s death as a “targeted assassination,” as footage has since been revealed, of men getting through a backstage area of the festival. There, they ended up attacking Drakeo and members of his crew.

Attorneys went on to claim that the festival had no nearby law enforcement or security, in the backstage area. Attorney James Bryant also added that the LA rapper was lynched by “40-60 people.”

“Mr. Caldwell was lynched by 40 to 60 people,” said Bryant. “This would never have happened if those promoters had the proper security protocol. The world lost an amazing artist, a beautiful human being, a father.”

Promoters of the Once Upon A Time In LA festival have since released a statement to ABC News, offering condolences to loved ones of Drakeos

“Once Upon a Time in LA joins Drakeo’s family, friends, and fans in grieving his loss. The festival is continuing to support local authorities in their investigation as they pursue the facts.”
