Drake released his ‘Dark Lane Demo Tapes’ mixtape on May 1 as it featured the singles “Chicago Freestyle” feat. Giveon, “When To Say When,” snd the No. 1 hit, “Toosie Slide.” Another huge hit that emerged from this project was also “Pain 1993” feat. Playboi Carti.

Pain 1993 continues to build a lot of momentum as it has now been certified gold in the United States by the RIAA, according to Chart Data. This is after it reached mark of 500,000 sold units. It also peaked at No. 7 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Dark Lane Demo Tapes ended up debuting at No. 2 on the Billboard 200, right behind Kenny Chesney’s ‘Here and Now’ album. This snapped Drake’s streak of consecutive No. 1 projects which dates back to his debut, ‘Thank Me Later,’ in 2010. Drake plans to release his sixth studio album sometime this summer.
