The official release date for part two of Surviving R. Kelly now has a release date which is January 2. It is titled ‘Surviving R. Kelly Part 2: The Reckoning.’ It will air for two hours for three straight nights, just like this past January. Kelly’s downfall as an artist, his release from RCA and more from his legal battle involving sex crimes from the past three decades will be discussed. Names included that will speak on Kelly are journalist Jim DeRogatis, Dame Dash, Matthew Knowles, Me Too founder Tarana Burke, actress Sheryl Lee Ralph, Angela Yee, and Cook County’s State Attorney Kimberly M. Foxx.

Kelly’s ex-wife, Drea, Kelly, spoke on him in the docu-series from this year and in the new trailer for part two, she was shown. This lead many to believe that she will be part of this but according to her, she is 100% not involved. Drea hopped on TMZ Live today to discuss the issue and reiterates that Lifetime didn’t support the women who spoke out against R. Kelly and that she plans to sue the network for including video of her in the part two trailer.

Drea added that she has “no involvement, did not approve any footage or stills of her likeness and is not actively promoting, nor consulting the follow-up series.” Lifetime supposedly still tried to contact her children and family members about speaking on R. Kelly despite requests not to. Nonetheless, there will definitely be a lot of controversy after part 2 is released. The airtime on January 2-4 for the docu-series will be at 9pm ET.
