Dwight Howard helped the Lakers win the 2020 NBA championship and it looked like he found his role with the team. However, he signed with the Philadelphia 76ers that offseason. Like his other post-Houston Rockets teams, Howard struggled to find his place with the teams. In 2021, the Lakers reset and brought back much of the 2020 title team, Howard included. The 2022 Lakers were problematic to say the least. After the season, Dwight Howard quietly went to Taiwan. Now, he is a superstar there.

Dwight Howard originally was a superstar in the NBA, not a role player. While he won his only championship as a role player on LeBron James’ team, he initially denied LeBron a title. In 2009, Howard led the Orlando Magic to an unlikely NBA Finals run. However, his Magic faced off against the Los Angeles Lakers. Howard’s future teammate, Kobe Bryant, proved to be too much for him. A few years later, Kobe’s style ended up also being too much for Howard, so he left LA for Houston.

Dwight Howard got into an altercation with Anthony Davis, in 2021. Essentially, his time was up in the NBA after that moment. During an interview with Shannon Sharpe, Howard said it’s disrespectful that he isn’t playing in the NBA right now. However, like many NBA stars before him, Howard has gone overseas and found his footing. Recently, he shot a commercial in Taiwan, and he made it clear he loves it there.
