Earth, Wind & Fire’s Fred White passes away at 67
The music industry unfortunately lost another legend, to begin 2023. This time, it involves the sudden passing of of Earth, Wind & Fire drummer Fred White. This news was confirmed by White’s brother and group bandmate, Verdine.
According to TMZ, White passed away at the age of 67, on Sunday. As of now, the official cause of death is still publicly unknown. White initially joined Earth, Wind & Wire at the age of 19, way back in 1974. He appeared on eight of the group’s studio albums, and contributed to notable hits such as “September” and “Boogie Wonderland.

Our beloved brother Frederick Eugene “Freddie” White.🙏🏾🙏🏾💔💔🥁,” said Verdine on Instagram. “He joins our brothers Maurice, Monte and Ronald in heaven and is now drumming with the angels!
White also went on to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Eight other members of Earth, Wind, & Fire are also enshrined into the HOF.
Earth, Wind & Fire is regarded overall, as one of the most iconic music groups of all-time. They released 22 studio albums, as their first was in 1974, with their self-titled project. Their latest album came in 2015, which was “The Classic Christmas Album.”
