During the height of racial tensions when Jim Crow laws reigned supreme in the South, a young man named Emmett Till was brutally murdered. Though the details have never been completely explained, Emmett Till was killed because of him having interactions with a white female. Every Feburary, Emmett Till’s name is brought up.
In February 2013, it was for a much different reason though. Future invited Lil Wayne on his new single, “Karate Chop (remix).” This came after Lil Wayne featured both he and Drake on his gold-selling “Love Me” single. When Lil Wayne appeared on Future’s single, he dissed Emmett Till.
Despite the media uproar and the apologies from Epic Records, L.A. Reid, and Future, there has been no statement from Lil Wayne. Instead, however, Lil Wayne has focused his attention on dissing the Miami Heat. Now, the family of Emmett Till has reached out to Lil Wayne, releasing a letter for the Young Money rapper.
