“Empire” was renewed for season six, but the show will be cancelled following the sixth season #Empire

Through the years, “Empire” has gone through its share of ups and downs. Even without the Jussie Smollett saga, the show was bound to end, at some time. Setting television record ratings, “Empire” relaunched both Terrence Howard and Taraji P. Henson.

During a 2017 interview, Henson indicated that she wanted the show to end, while it was still good. Many fans were outraged, but her point was that she didn’t want the show getting stale. With that in mind, she has done several successful films, since “Empire” began.

Meanwhile, Terrence Howard has established himself as the baddest man in network primetime. The show also allowed for Bryshere “Yazz” Gray to expand his acting portfolio, as he played Michael Bivins in the acclaimed The New Edition Story. Following news of Lee Daniels’ “STAR” being cancelled, “Empire” was renewed, but season six is the final season.
