Eve releases “Lip Lock” cover art

Lip LockEleven years have passed since Eve last released an album. Becoming one of the hottest rappers in the game, Eve expanded well past hip hop. Most of her time was consumed, following her last album, in her self-titled UPN sitcom and her clothing line. Once both ended, Eve began working on her comeback album.

Reuniting with Dr. Dre and Interscope Records, Eve began working on her album. But, with Dr. Dre working on 50 Cent and Eminem’s projects, along with his own, Eve was placed on the backburner. Forced to wait two years, Eve left Aftermath Entertainment and took some time off.

Last year, Eve returned to the game and is preparing Lip Lock for the world. Eve now resides in London and has reunited with her former collaborators. Missy Elliott and Swizz Beatz are among the people she is working with on her twelve track album, which is due on May 14.

Read Eve’s statement about Lip Lock during her Billboard interview below:

“I don’t want people to take [Lip Lock] too seriously. I’m not trying to relive any moments of my life. I’m in a new place in my life. I’m almost a new artist. It’s a fun record.”

“I just hope that some of my fans, especially the ones that grew up with me, will just take [‘Lip Lock’] how it is and have an open mind, head and heart. Hopefully [fans] will say, ‘Let me listen to where she is now.’ You will recognize me from Ruff Ryders [and] lyrically I’m still that girl.”
