There are many reasons the 1990s are considered the golden era of hip hop. This was when, among other things, the ladies in hip hop established themselves as forces in the industry. Easily, Eve was the breakout female artist in hip hop.
Eve scored many hits in the late 1990s, forming a strong duo with DMX and a great core, alongside The L.O.X. as Ruff Ryders. While her music chemistry with Swizz Beatz was off the charts, Eve wanted more. After doing the first Barbershop movie, Eve caught the acting bug.
In addition to doing movies, Eve did her own self-titled sitcom, which ran three seasons on UPN.
