Back in the 1990s was the last time there was this much energy surrounding female emcees, who have made an astounding comeback. Queen Latifah and MC Lyte were the first femcees to gain success in the rap game. But, it was Lil’ Kim who elevated things to new heights and opened the door for Eve, the first woman signed to Ruff Ryders, who took the game into the 2000s.
Eve ended up being much bigger than hip hop, as she set records for sales. After her third album, Eve began focusing on her business ventures. One of these ventures was her clothing line, Fetish, which suspended operations in 2006. Meanwhile, Eve also produced and starred in her own sitcom, “Eve,” that went off the air when UPN merged with The WB.
Seven years later, Eve is more focused than ever on her comeback, first attempted in 2007. Now living abroad, in London, Eve is working on her new album, Lip Lock. FUSE TV recently talked to Eve and she talked about hr new album, which will feature Juicy J, among others. Eve explained why the Ruff Ryders do not appear on the project and what living in London is like.
