Brooklyn has left a huge mark on the hip hop world, as The Notorious B.I.G. and Jay-Z are among the stars who have come from the New York City borough. Fabolous would become a force on the mixtape scene during Jay-Z’s rise. A protege` of DJ Clue, Fabolous became his flagship artist and he was said to be the next big thing in the rap game.

Fabolous enjoyed a strong run for eight years, from 2001 through 2009. In recent years, Fabolous has taken time off, releasing mixtapes. Since 2010, Fabolous has dominated the New York City mixtape scene with There is No Competition. After releasing three mixtapes, Fabolous announced the series was over.

While Fabolous was viewed as the heir to Jay-Z’s throne in Brooklyn, the “Mike Jordan of recording” was off working on bigger projects. Jay-Z purchased a stake in the Nets, of the NBA, and made plans of relocating the team to Brooklyn. Now, the Nets are the Brooklyn Nets and Fabolous recently did a freestyle for the Nets.
