Fabolous says the VMAs “isn’t for us” on Twitter

Fabolous 20Almost two hours after the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards ended, the general consensus is that hip hop was shunned. Race relations have been a hot mainstream topic this year, but not every situation is racial. From the way certain rappers have sounded on Twitter, this conversation is one about race.

Last night, Lil’ Scrappy had choice words about the VMAs and the way the hip hop category was overlooked. Given the hype about the VMAs being held in Brooklyn this year at Barclays Center, it looked like hip hop would get a bigger platform. In the days leading up to the show, MTV dedicated Brooklyn Week.

But, what happened has happened and there is nothing anyone can do about it. Most are not even surprised at the turn of events. Fabolous has seen the backlash towards MTV and the VMAs on his Twitter timeline and he broke his silence, saying he is not surprised and the people should know this “isn’t for us.”
