The photo on the left is an iconic American staple. It’s the opening of the “Family Matters” sitcom, which has aired nonstop since 1989. The addition of Jaleel White’s character of Steve Urkel ended up reinventing the show. Recently, a photo went viral of the location of that Chicago home. It turns out, the actual home has been demolished. Now, there’s an apartment building in the place of it.

Through the entire “Family Matters” run, the show touched on all kinds of topics. While the show often gets panned due to the Steve Urkel stories. However, the show also dealt with such topics as racism, sexism, peer pressure, teen drinking, and much more. Those topics get overshadowed by such episodes centering around Urkel going into outer space.

When people visit Chicago, many people make a point of visiting the “Family Matters” home. However, people are in for a major disappointment if they try now to go visit that house. A photo has been circulating on Facebook that shows that the house is no longer there. The house was demolished, some time ago, and now there’s an apartment building in place of it.
