First Week Projections: Tyga – “Hotel California”

Yesterday, Tyga released Hotel California, his third studio album. The album shows how far Tyga has come over the past few years. At one point, it appeared as if Young Money would be focusing on Cory Gunz, if anyone outside of Drake and Nicki Minaj. Tyga’s dominance on the mixtape landscape definitely changed this.

Now one of the most-popular rappers in the game, Tyga is remaining consistent in his music. Closing out 2012, Tyga began promoting Hotel California, hyping his “187” single with Rick Ross, later renamed “Dope.” Tyga featured appearances from Game, Future, and many other big names on his new album.

Despite the heavy load of guest appearances, it looks like it will not have much of an impact on the record sales. In the first week of sales, Tyga is set to move between 45,000 and 50,000 copies. This is a sharp decline from his last album, which sold 61,000 copies in its first week.
