Ten years ago, Trinidad James took over the game with “All Gold Everything.” That year, he was one of three breakout viral rappers. In terms of lasting impact, Trinidad James probably left the largest impression on the game. His run sparked Think It’s A Game Records, among other things.

Trinidad James dropped “All Gold Everything” and then got T.I., Jeezy, and 2 Chainz for the remix. Few rappers ever got off to a start as hot as Trinidad’s was. Though he was written off as a “bad” rapper, James actually made good records.

The end of 2012, into the early part of 2013, Trinidad James dominated the game. After 2013, he struggled to find another hit record. Soon, Trinidad James was having trouble staying relevant, and then he was no longer signed to Def Jam. Time has gone by and viral rappers have come and go, with Trinidad now being a veteran of ten years in the game. Recently, N.O.R.E. had him on “Drink Champs,” which will air on Saturday.

On “Drink Champs,” Trinidad James said he is responsible for “viral” becoming a phrase in hip hop. A lot of people disagree, mainly Fivio Foreign. He responded, saying Trinidad must’ve lost his mind for taking credit for starting “viral” in hip hop.
