Fivio Foreign says Jay Z was supposed to be on “City Of Gods,” but Kanye West was too impatient to get Jay’s verse [VIDEO]

Fivio Foreign says Jay Z was supposed to be on “City Of Gods”

Kanye West has one of the biggest records out right now, with “City Of Gods.” This also featured Fivio Foreign and Alicia Keys. Many got the vibes of “Empire State Of Mind” from 2009, which had Jay Z and Alicia Keys on that record.

City Of Gods went on to appear on Kanye’s new “Donda 2” album last month, but was only available on Ye’s Stem Player platform. That resulted in the album not being eligible to chart on the Billboard 200.

Fivio recently appeared on Complex Brackets with Brian “B. Dot” Miller, and discussed the City Of Gods collaboration. The Brooklyn rapper revealed that Jay Z was supposed to be on that single as well. Kanye wanted that to happen, but got too impatient about the process of getting Jay’s verse.

“I had the skeleton of it, I had the beat and Ye was like, ‘Yo, this s*it is so fire. We going to get Hov on it and we going to go crazy.’ He’s like, ‘Yo, I’m going to get Alicia Keys to sing it,’” Fivio explained. “But he wanted it out so fast. He’s like, ‘Yo, I’ma just do a verse.’ So he did the verse, got Alicia Keys on it, she ate that s*it up, easy. She different.”

Adding Jay Z to City Of Gods definitely would’ve been an epic collaboration. Either way, it became a solid success. It currently stands at number 70, on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
