Post-CTE, Freddie Gibbs looks poised to truly have a breakout year. More rappers are going the independent route to push their music and are dropping full-length albums on their own. Freddie Gibbs did this when he realized his major label debut was never coming with ESGN.

Instead of the people in his own camp, Freddie Gibbs found himself working more alongside Madlib. Teaming up with the West Coast legend made Freddie Gibbs into one of the most-discussed names in the game. The co-sign of the legend forced a lot of people to pay attention to Indiana’s native son.

The two have been working on their first joint album, Cocaine Pinata. Last week, the project was announced to have a fall release date. Before people get to settled into this release date, Freddie Gibbs talked to B-Real from Cypress Hill and told him the project was pushed back until January.
