With or without a deal, Freddie Gibbs has always been his own man. Known on the mixtape circuit, Freddie Gibbs gained national attention when Young Jeezy signed him to CTE. It looked like a match made in heaven, initially, as Freddie Gibbs was featured on the “Talk to ‘Em” single with Young Jeezy and Eminem.

While Young Jeezy worked on his own projects, Freddie Gibbs began collaborating with veterans in the game, including Madlib. So much work began coming from Freddie Gibbs it looked as if he was no longer a member of CTE. Toward the end of 2012, Freddie Gibbs revealed he was no longer a part of the CTE movement.

Freddie Gibbs recently paid a trip to Chicago where he stopped by WGCI. At WGCI, Gibbs talked to “The Morning Riot.” Always giving his unbiased opinion, Freddie Gibbs provided the details behind his CTE exit, T.I.’s statements about gangsta rap, and Rick Ross’ now-infamous shooting.
