In 2011, French Montana made people excited about New York City, once again. At the time, it had been so long since a rapper from the city had emerged. While Nicki Minaj was fresh off a platinum album, she faced stigma for being a female and being with Cash Money Records.

Meanwhile, French Montana did a lot of Southern collaborations, but he had his own Coke Boys movement. When it came time for him to sign with a label, French chose Bad Boy Records. However, his momentum was lost when his album was delayed until 2013.

French Montana made smart career moves that put him in the same circles as the Kardashians, as he and Khloe dated. Later, he would begin appearing in movies, but it left him not as big of a rapper as he once was. Last night, he performed in LA with Jeezy, but not before creating a historic Twitter battle, where ladies of color are not backing off him.
