Until this past summer, there were doubts of French Montana being able to make a hit single. It was during the summer of 2012 when French Montana announced his “Pop That” single. Rick Ross, Lil Wayne, and Drake were featured on the single that became one of the biggest anthems of the summer.
Sampling “I Wanna Rock” by the 2 Live Crew, Rick Ross even shouted Uncle Luke’s crew out on the single. Watching the success of “Pop That,” Uncle Luke knew his single had been sampled. Uncle Luke would talk to MTV News and he talked about wanting a royalty from French Montana.
Recently, French Montana appeared in Philadelphia and he talked to Power 99. The popular radio station talked to French Montana about his Uncle Luke sample on his breakout hit, “Pop That.” During the interview, French Montana also talked about the single, “Freaks,” with Nicki Minaj.
