Future wins the streaming wars, as #DS2 received 25 million streams in first week

The way music is consumed by listeners has changed over the past decade plus. Album sales are dead and even the digital purchases are dwindling, but the music is still being consumed. These changes have made it harder for artists to go platinum the way they once did.

Many hip hop fans were upset when Jay Z released Magna Carta Holy Grail and direct sold one million copies. However, now almost every artist is being streamed, with Jay Z putting many on TIDAL. The first artist to really break through with streams was Lil Wayne, a few weeks back.

Future has broken the record for streams on Spotify and Apple Music with his third album, DS2. The album came out and did well with the solid copies, digital and physical, pushing him well over 150,000 units. But, the streams were at 25 million, doing 14 million plus on Spotify and 11 million on Apple Music, the #FutureHive keeps winning.
