Hip hop historians often point to Tupac and DMX as the poster-child figures for dropping two albums in the same year. Recent years also give a lot of props to Lil Wayne and Rick Ross for doing the same. For some reason, Plies gets overlooked, but that’s another story.
The point is that Future defied all of that when he dropped two albums within a week of each other. First, Future delivered his self-titled album, which is producing hits. Then, he dropped the long-awaited HNDRXX album, initially slated to be his sophomore album.
It is the first of those two Future albums that has people talking. The album is being propelled by the “Mask Off” single, that everyone is freestyling, and that he just dropped the Amber Rose-starring music video for. Yesterday, the RIAA certified the album as gold.
