George Floyd, an unarmed 46-year-old black man in Minneapolis, MN was killed by a white police officer. His knee was on Floyd’s neck. The cop was identified as Derek Chauvin. He was sadly on Floyd’s neck for seven minutes. As a result, he and three other cops at the scene being fired. In Minnesota, these type of choke holds are not allowed by law enforcement. Cops claimed that he was resisting arrest and a suspect of a forgery case at a grocery store.
George Floyd was involved in hip-hop, back in the day, as well as he appeared on DJ Screw mixtapes. He was a Houston native. One track that has surfaced is titled “Sittin On Top Of The World” which also features Chris Ward and AD. It features that classic Houston chopped and screwed sound that has gone on to become one of the most classic flows in hip-hop history, which was created by Screw. Floyd was part of Screw’s Screwed Up Click after moving back to Houston after leaving Florida State University, according to the Houston Chronicle.
Hopefully, Floyd receives justice. He deserves it. These white supremacist cops who always get off free with killing unarmed black people need to finally be held accountable. Attorney Benjamin Crump is representing his family now.
