Ginuwine took the game by surprise with his debut single. Throughout the 1990s and the 2000s, he was one of the biggest names in R&B. In 2001, Ginuwine delivered “Differences,” along with a standout feature on Missy Elliott’s “Take Away.” The past decade has seen Ginuwine performing his hits all over the world. Lately, his performances have been going viral. For nearly thirty years, Ginuwine has dominated the hip hop and R&B. As a result, he spoke on hip hop turning 50 at Essence Fest.

Ginuwine has a triumphant story, behind his music, as well. At the height of his career, he suffered unimaginable losses. Both of his parents passed away when he was at his peak. A situation like that would have destroyed any other person. While Ginuwine definitely struggled, he also made sure he came back strongly. For nearly a decade, Ginuwine continued to drop hit records. When he stopped making the hits, he performed the ones he had on the road.

Ginuwine was among a long list of legends who attended Essence Fest, this year. While Ginuwine was out there, he ran into Brittney O, who was representing Hip-HopVibe.com. The two had a conversation about 2023 being the 50 year anniversary of hip hop. Each weekend, New York City is having concerts in celebration. Meanwhile, Ginuwine offered his opinion, while citing he is an R&B singer, and is hip hop. He said he is proud that hip hop has managed to last for fifty years.
