Last week, a woman went viral for doing the unthinkable during her graduation. The woman was graduating from a community college in New York City. As she was walking, the announcer mispronounced her name. In turn, the woman wrestled the mic from the announcer’s hand, and gave her own speech. As a result, people on social media have criticized the woman. The woman is well aware of the criticism and she does not care.

Honestly, it’s hard to judge even the worst situations without all of the details. After working hard to obtain something like a degree, a lot of stress was involved. Sometimes accomplishing the mission does not negate the stress that it took. Something as simple as a name being mispronounced may not be a big deal for a person on the outside looking in. However, after working hard and doing all of the studying, plus taking those tests, something that small should be done correctly.

After watching herself go viral for all of the wrong reasons, the woman is speaking out. She said that she is a Black woman in America. As a result, she is never in the wrong. In addition, the graduate said she was sticking up for all Black girls in America. The woman said people will not gaslight her, nor make her feel like the bad guy. After all, she said she was defending herself, so she is not embarrassed. In addition, she’s confident that she’ll still get a job.
