On the second episode of “Inside The Label,” BET puts the spotlight on T.I. and his Grand Hustle Records. Early in his career, T.I. was reportedly hailed as the “Jay Z of the South” by Pharrell. Beginning in 2003, and by 2006, he was living up to this title.
Emerging just when Jay “retired” from the game, T.I. immediately filled this void, straight out of Atlanta. Soon, T.I. was dropping a new album every year. Each album had chart-topping singles that landed endorsement deals for the label.
Young Dro was one of the first artists signed to Grand Hustle, joining when T.I. reached his peak. During the summer of 2006, Dro debuted with “Shoulder Lean,” taking over the year. “Inside The Label” just covered this run and it has brought back memories for the fans.
