Gregg Popovich tells Spurs fans to stop booing Kawhi Leonard
Kawhi Leonard was supposed to be the future of the San Antonio Spurs. After Tim Duncan retired, the reins were officially passed to Kawhi. It looked good, during the 2017 season, as the Spurs won 61 games, and had the Warriors down big in Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals. Zaza Pachulia caused an injury to Kawhi, which gave way to a trade. As a result, the Spurs fans immensely dislike Kawhi. Tonight, the fans were booing him, until Gregg Popovich demanded them to stop.
Kawhi Leonard essentially forced a trade, leading to the Toronto Raptors acquiring him. In one season, the Raptors won the title, under Kawhi’s leadership. However, a turbulent situation remained that way, leading to Leonard signing with the Los Angeles Clippers. In 2021, Leonard led the Clippers to their first ever Western Conference Finals. However, injuries left him unable to play, as the Phoenix Suns won that series.
Kawhi Leonard is often made fun of for hardly ever appearing in games. As a result, he’s often referred to as a part time player. Despite his greatness, he barely plays, so the Clippers remain a fringe playoff squad. Fans of the Clippers are disappointed, meanwhile fans of the Spurs are downright angry. Any time that Kawhi comes to town, the Spurs’ fans boo him. However, Gregg Popovich took the microphone and put an end to that. He said this isn’t how Spurs behave.
