Given the type of year DJ Khaled, Cardi B, Future, Kendrick Lamar, and French Montana have had, Gucci Mane is easy to overlook. But, he has silently put in a very solid year, himself. His career is at a high, as he stepped up his bars, too.

Gucci Mane is a major label artist, but he definitely made his mark as an independent artist. When he went on his mixtape run, Gucci made himself a legend. While he was inspired by Lil Wayne’s run, Gucci did so under the tutelage of Master P, hip hop’s OG indie star.

Going into 2018, Gucci Mane is making some major changes. It looks like he is walking away from Atlantic Records, his label home of the past decade. In his tweet, he mentioned going 100% independent and dropping a mixtape every other day until hisĀ Mr. Davis: The Album comes.
