In many ways, Gucci Mane is hip hop’s success story, and it came after a long struggle. Through his career, Gucci was written off as a mixtape rapper. Some considered him a one hit wonder, but he kept cranking out mixtapes, and these tapes included hits.
His antics, however, kept Gucci Mane from being considered a top tier rapper. This led to a 2013 implosion, beginning with him and Waka having a huge falling out. By the time it ended, he launched a social media attack on the whole game, mainly Tyga and Nicki Minaj.
Gucci Mane’s official lowest point was his fight at the mall, which was followed by his arrest. Shocking, at the time, Gucci Mane was sentenced to three years, set to return in 2016. Releasing music, consistently, through that span of time, when Gucci was officially released, he shocked the world.
Crazy Gucci was over, as he came back in good shape, on a new lyrical level, and just doing his thing. The Atlanta rapper returned with his Woptober 2 album, to much fanfare. Doing his media rounds, Gucci Mane visited Hot 97, where he spoke with Ebro, Laura Stylez, and Peter Rosenberg, discussing working with Gucci, being in prison and snitching, his wife, and his influence.
