Three summers ago, Gucci Mane became one of the biggest rappers on the Atlanta hip hop scene. In 2005, Gucci Mane rose to fame behind his “Icy” single, with Young Jeezy. The song led to a longstanding feud between the two rappers. Young Jeezy went on to enjoy much mainstream success, while Gucci Mane remained on the mixtape level.

Gucci Mane eventually made peace with Young Jeezy in 2009, as he went on to reach new heights in his career. During this period of time, Gucci Mane introduced OJ Da Juiceman and Waka Flocka Flame to the hip hop world. With 1017 Brick Squad firmly established, Gucci Mane ended up going to prison, but returned and continued releasing mixtapes.

Recently, Gucci Mane unexpectedly appeared on Tony Yayo’s Sex, Drugs, & Hip Hop mixtape on the song “2 Girls.” Gucci Mane stopped by Shade 45 and spoke to DJ Whoo Kid. During their interview, a number of topics were discussed. Among the primary topics was where the ‘Gucci Mane’ moniker originated and his relationship with Tony Yayo.
