Controversy in hip hop has found a home in Gucci Mane. Because he is self-sufficient, controversy does little to tarnish Gucci Mane’s image. Though he has a major label deal, he releases mixtapes and albums at his discretion. The last time Gucci Mane released a major label album was 2010.
Gucci Mane has dominated the headlines for both his music and the controversy he has been embroiled in. Considered closer than brothers to Waka Flocka Flame, Gucci Mane announced he was no longer Brick Squad in a recent Twitter post. Since then, the two have traded insults.
But, Gucci Mane angered fans and made mainstream news when he hit a former solider who approached him in an Atlanta club. A warrant for Gucci Mane’s arrest has been out since last week. Gucci Mane has since turned himself in and was arrested on charges of aggravated assault, meanwhile a man in Philadelphia also claims he was hit by the 1017 boss.
