Gunplay talks “Cops N Robbers” and “Medellin” with XXL

Maybach Music has been firing on all cylinders, much as they were during this time in 2012, as the label celebrated the release of Rick Ross’ Rich Forever. Recently, things have been going strong for the label, as Gunplay and Rockie Fresh released mixtapes within days of each other. Gunplay is fresh off the release of Cops N Robbers.

Once he released Cops N Robbers, Gunplay refocused his energy on Medellin. While the newer artists on Maybach Music are now signed to Atlantic Records, Gunplay remains on the Def Jam roster with Rick Ross. Medellin is the debut album Gunplay announced toward the end of 2012 and will be released sometime after Bogota.

XXL spoke to Gunplay yesterday and he explained how Cops N Robbers came together. Comprised of songs that have been recorded over several periods of time, Gunplay chose seventeen to put his mixtape together. Gunplay also said Bogota will come right before his album and will consist of some songs that will appear on Medellin.
