Over the past eight years, Issa Rae has won big with the television series that she’s brought to HBO. Back in 2016, she saw immediate success with her “Insecure” series, which lasted from October 2016-December 2021. Moreover, five seasons were aired in total.

Meanwhile, Issa Rae also saw success on HBO’s HBO Max, with her “Rap Sh!t” series. This past fall, season 2 aired, as the series overall tells a story of two upcoming Miami rappers, who are played by Aida Osman and KaMillion. As a result viewers have been impressed by the content delivered by Rap Sh!t, over these past two seasons.

However, according to Variety, HBO Max is not going to renew Rap Sh!t for a third season. This comes almost two years after the series initially aired, in July 2022.

“I’m so proud of and grateful for Syreeta, our cast, writers and crew that made this show possible,” said Issa Rae to Variety in a statement. “Thanks to Sarah Aubrey and Suzanna Makkos for championing the show, and much love to the fans that tuned in weekly to root for our girls.”
