Heavy D’s Final Interview, with “Black Enterprise” [VIDEO]

Heavy D’s passing shocked the world, as he seemed so full of life. His final public appearance took place at the 2011 BET Hip Hop Awards. When the actual event took place, LL Cool J commanded all of the attention. His speech, dedicated to the growth of hip hop, captivated the audience. However, Heavy D would shock people, just days later. While he was walking in his neighborhood, Heavy D would meet an abrupt demise.

Heavy D was a true force of nature in the world of hip hop. Not only did he have an iconic career, but also, he helped other icons launch their careers. As the front man of Heavy D and The Boyz, he was the flagship artist of Uptown Records. His close relationship with the label CEO, Andre Harrell, opened the door for Heavy D to help Diddy get an internship there. In turn, Heavy D’s success as an overweight rapper opened the door for The Notorious B.I.G. to find success.

Heavy D even took on the role of label executive, for a brief period. When Andre Harrell took over the parent label of Uptown, Motown, as their CEO, Heavy D became Uptown’s CEO. Ultimately, that work wasn’t for him. However, Heavy D remained a force in the hip hop world. Black Enterprise had the fortune of hosting Heavy D’s final interview. During their conversation, he discussed his new book. Also, he gave his opinion on the current state of hip hop.

RIP Heavy D, once again.
