A name to get familiar with is Chill Will, as he is next up. Many who follow the mixtape circuit should already be familiar with Chill Will. The mixtapes where he is not hosting them at least have his songs on them. Chill Will is the latest in a long line of emcees to emerge from the city of Atlanta.

DJ Junior featured Chill Will, earlier this year, in his weekly Artists to Know column, predicting his rise. Unlike many other rappers who have risen to stardom, Chill Will has done his naturally, through his mixtape appearances. With the clear support from many of the biggest DJs in the game, Chill Will has become a new focal point in the game, especially on the mixtape scene outside of his city.

Hip Hop Vibe had the chance to talk to Chill Will about the advances he is making in the game. In a very interesting and enlightening conversation, Chill Will spoke on his rising fan base and his mixtape appearances. As one of the fastest-rising rappers in the game, we also had the chance to talk to Chill Will about the “New Atlanta” rap scene and why he thinks he is so often compared to Gucci Mane.

Read the entire interview below:

Real quick, can you clue the people in about you and the 1426 Music Group? Well, this is my movement and I just keep it separate from my music. This is the enterprise right here.

This year, your name is everywhere and you are the next big thing, how does it feel to be so close to accomplishing your goals? Oh man. It feels good, it is good to be around this and see what I have to do to keep it going. I am good and I like the spot where I am at, seeing where I am going and knowing where I have been.

Looking back at where you started from, what is the biggest lesson you learned that helped get you to this position now? Patience. Early in my career, I was trying to rush through things. But, I learned that the only time you rush is in football, but now I am taking time with my craft and having a long-lasting career.

What is the fan support like for you now? The fan support is great. Everybody who hears about me turns into a fan and the only people who are not my fans are people who do not know about me. So, I love the position I have with the fans.

You’re not just featured on these mixtape compilations, you’re hosting them. How did you become such a hot commodity on the mixtape scene? It is good man. I love it, it is practice for me, as I am getting to the bigger stuff. Without a doubt, I appreciate everything that is coming my way. I try to take it and apply it to my future.

Do you plan to drop another mixtape before you jump into your street album? Yeah, I got some stuff coming up. My next mixtape is due at the end of June, The Re-Up. I have to add some more songs on it, give it that extra dose, it is coming, so be on the lookout for Real Shit: The Re-Up.

You recently dropped singles with Ca$h Out and Alley Boy, do you work with these guys often? No, not really, but I have good relationships with them. We do not talk every day, but when I reach out to them, they reach back. I am like that with a lot of different guys.

Speaking of Ca$h Out and Alley Boy, how do you feel about the energy brought by this “New Atlanta” movement to the game? It depends on who is going to be at the forefront of it. A lot of stuff is still the same, but the “New Atlanta” movement is cool, but it depends on the people involved and who is going to be at the front. But, I love the new energy, these new niggas are making the game crazy.

Another big collaboration you have is with Gucci Mane, why do you think so many people compare you to him and how do you feel about this? It’s all good. I’m cool with the comparisons. We have had a lot of the same experiences and we are from the same place. We have a lot of songs together and we have known each other for a long time. That is my boy and greatness is always compared, look at sports. I love being compared to someone that is big. It could always be worse, you could be compared to a rapper who is not making moves, so at least I’m compared to somebody that is doing something.
