HHV Exclusive: Joe Moses talks new record deal and new project

Joe Moses 2There are a lot of hip hop artists who are making big moves, so it is understandable when one gets lost in the shuffle. Joe Moses is one of many Los Angeles rappers who is breaking into the game, but he is the one who helped start the West Coast shift. Late in 2011, Joe Moses released “I Do it for the Ratchets” and the game changed for him.

Joe Moses is no one hit wonder, however, as his “Fresh Out” single has done very well on the internet. Featuring Tory Lanez on the single, Joe Moses delivered another solid hit record. This new song has helped to build Joe Moses a fan base with the college crowd and the festival market.

Hip Hop Vibe talked to Joe Moses today, as he recently landed a million dollar deal with the label, Pinnacle Records. During the interview, Joe Moses reflected on his past work before talking about his new record deal. With “Fresh Out” already hot, Joe Moses talked about his upcoming project.

Read the entire interview below:

How did this deal with Pinnacle Records come together? Pinnacle came and my boy Andrew, my little brother, we linked up. They liked my music and we have been doing this for the past couple of months. We decided to do a deal together, got the numbers right, told them what I wanted and it came right through.

You have a history with Brick Squad Monopoly, are you still with them? Yeah. That’s my team and they always will be. Waka is my blood family, so he supports everything I do

Was Waka Flocka Flame supportive of your record deal? He just gave me the green light and told me to do me. He always supported my career, he is a positive guy, told me to do what I do best. He’s not the possessive type.

How do you feel about the success of the West Coast, recently? Man, we’re taking over. I like how it is coming together, YG, Tyga, DJ Mustard, a lot of people making noise, but we have to come together for this new movement. Nothing else to say, come together and make it happen.

You are very close with YG and Ty Dolla $ign, can you speak on your relationships with those guys? Yeah. Those are my brothers. I just did a song with DJ Mustard and YG called “Catch Up.” I came in with YG and Ty Dolla $ign and nothing has changed and we brought this new sound to the game everybody is doing. Everybody raps like us now, me and my brothers. DJ Mustard is with Roc Nation, YG is with Def Jam, and Ty Dolla $ign is with Taylor Gang/Atlantic.

Can you tell us about your “Fresh Out” single with Tory Lanez and how it came together? My mixtape was already done. I went to Ty’s house, he let me hear a beat, and I loved it. YG called me to the studio so I could hear some beats, Tory Lanez came through, I put on the beat, and I recorded “Fresh Out” at his session. Tory Lanez had the concept for the song, so he did the hook for it. I kept it in-house, with Ty Dolla $ign doing the beat for it and it was a hit. I wanted to change from “Ratchets” and take things to the next level and it was a hit.

Should we expect more songs with you and Game or Snoop Dogg? Yeah, those the homies. Of course, they paved the way for artists like myself. Much love to them. I talked to Game about two weeks ago and told him I had some new music and he gave me the greenlight. Snoop Dogg is always positive, so I we are going to make some stuff happen to.

With so much new music out, when should we expect your new project, and who will be on it? New project is due in July, me and Ty Dolla $ign have one coming out. Expect greatness from us, to launch the summer off right. We’re working strategically with that.

Can you give us your social networking profiles so fans can follow you? Everything is Joe Moses BSM, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
