HHV Exclusive: Mase performs during Fabolous’ set at Hot 97 Summer Jam

In the late 1990s, Bad Boy Records took over the rap game, but was dealt a major blow when The Notorious B.I.G. died. The momentum was high, however, so Mase was thrust into the spotlight. Emerging in 1997, Mase immediately was the top rapper in the game.

Mase scored several hits in 1997-1998, all off Harlem World, his debut album. The style Mase created influenced many, who came after his retirement. Many have compared Fabolous to Mase over the years and the two have become friends, in recent years.

Fabolous had a “Fabolous and Friends” set during Summer Jam, Hot 97’s annual event. During his set, Fabolous brought out many legends on the New York hip hop scene. Mase was among the artists brought out and he delivered a strong performance that Hip Hop Vibe has exclusive footage of.
