Recently, Nelson Davis has been hitting the acting scene very hard. Until the past couple months, Nelson Davis was probably best-known for his film, TheSexSymbol87, which premiered last year. Nelson Davis starred in and produced the film all on his own.

Definitely an urban classic, especially those who know how Nelson Davis put the film together, there is much more to him. If anyone is subscribed to his Facebook, they have seen the growth and the career moves he has made. Nelson Davis recently appeared in the Love Will Find a Way film that aired on the GMC channel.

Hip Hop Vibe has had the opportunity, once again, to talk to Nelson Davis. A lot has changed with him since the last time we talked. During this interview, Nelson Davis talked about the Love Will Find a Way film, appearing on GMC, being in the Citi Trends commercial, and much more things he is involved in.

Read the entire interview below:

You have done a lot over the past six months, are you surprised at how far you’ve come? Sometimes, when I take a minute to look back at how far I have came in this length of time, I am very surprised! Even though I am nowhere near where I want to be, I am still very thankful for how far I have made it.

How did you wind up being a part of Love Will Find a WayIt was actually produced by the same production company that produced another feature film that I was featured in called Frat Brothers, I have been building a pretty good relationship with the company, and saw they needed someone to play the role, I expressed interest in it and within a few hours I was booked! Big ups to everyone over at Swirl Films for the multiple opportunities.

Can you tell us about the character you play? Sure. The role wasn’t a speaking role, however it was featured with quite a bit of screen time and required a lot of acting through facial expressions. I actually played as one of the main character’s boyfriends.

What was the chemistry like between you and the cast-mates? It was great being on set with all of them! They were all veterans in the game! It was an honor just being around them and sitting at the same table as them, Carl Payne, Jason Weaver, Shanti Lori, Christian Keyes, Vanessa Simmons, Suveria Mota, and Gabrielle Dennis. I am a fan of all of their work. They were all so humble and made me feel very welcomed.

Are you pleased with the reaction to the film? Yes! I didn’t expect so many people to recognize me during my few seconds of fame! But, a lot of my supporters let me know through social media “I saw you on TV” (laughs.) They also took screen shots of me on tv and posted them. It was a great feeling.

Recently, the film appeared on GMC, what was it like seeing yourself on TV? Yeah it recently aired on UpTV, Uplifting Entertainment, formerly GMC. It was great man, it was so surreal. I loved it and can definitely get used to it!

Would you consider this run to be the peak of your career? I wouldn’t consider this the peak, but more like beginning of a new level.

Will you be playing in any other films that will be hitting TV? Yes. I am in an upcoming episode of the show “Wicked Attraction,” airing on Discovery ID soon, which is my first speaking role to air on national television, and I am very excited about it! I am also featured in the movie Frat Brothers, airing on BET Network this fall.

Who would you say has been your biggest source of inspiration in your latest run of success? My biggest inspirations are all of the people that have let me know I have inspired them in some way, that makes me want to keep pushing!

Can you talk about some of the other stuff you have going on, including your print ad? I recently was a print model for urban clothing store, Citi Trends. Citi Trends has more than 513 stores in twenty-nine different states! Look for me in commercial print ads in the stores, online, and possibly some billboards throughout the summer and fall!

Can you tell us about some of the things coming up next? I will be playing one of the lead characters in the upcoming film which is in pre-production called Upside Down, written by Davan Holt who wrote the movie Jury Of Our Peers which starred Drew Sidora, Angell Conwell, Dorian Missick, and Bryce Wilson which was popular at Red Box. You can most likely expect to see Upside Down on platforms such as Redbox, Netflix, Hulu, etc and available at your local stores. A few other feature films in the works and negotiation as well.

I play as Reggie of the main characters in the web series “At the Shop,” written and directed by Dontay Artis by 440 Films Premiering June 14th and will be available to watch at 440Films.com

What happened to the Take6 film? It’s still coming! However, the scope of the project has changed and it is now a mini movie called Watercrest Beach being released online this summer! Look for it end of July! Look for me as Leroy Jones, one of the lead characters in the independent horror film The Dead Don’t Die by Dewayne Etheridge Studios coming out this fall.
