HHV Exclusive: Omar Epps talks success of recent black films, Academy Awards, #TraffikMovie, human trafficking, “The Wood,” and more

There are many films considered hip hop classics, such as The Wood and Love and Basketball. Those movies helped establish Omar Epps as a huge name, in the industry. All these years later, he remains a big name.

Omar Epps is now a part of Traffik, which stars Paula Patton, who also serves as a producer. The movie tackles the hot-button topic of human trafficking. In recent years, the human trafficking, in the US, has become an epidemic, as hundreds of people go missing a year.

During the Traffik junket, Omar Epps sat down with Hip-HopVibe.com to discuss the movie. Touching on the human trafficking ailing the nation, he would express his disdain. But, Epps would also speak on the protests against the Academy Awards, and how movies like Black Panther have helped change things, along with discussing what a sequel to The Wood would be like.
