Queens always has been and always will be one of hip hop’s most-storied geographical regions. When thinking about this borough, such names as LL Cool J, Nas, Ja Rule, and 50 Cent come to mind. Also, factor into the equation that Def Jam’s acclaimed founder, Russell Simmons, is from Queens.
P’Cise is a popular up-and-coming rapper from Queens and he is well on his way to building a legacy. Already, he has seven mixtapes under his belt, many of which he considers to be albums. Adding to this collection of projects will be his latest mix-album, While You Were Sleeping.
Since we are both Queens guys, it made sense to meet with P’Cise here in the streets for the Hip Hop Vibe interview. In the interview, P’Cise talked about the While You Were Sleeping mixtape, Queens issues and the death of Jam Master Jay. P’Cise also dropped some knowledge about Kendrick Lamar, “Control,” and lyricism.
