HHV Exclusive: Shani Kulture of Hot 97 talks history, DJ YRS Jerzy mixtape, and The Kulture Movement

Listeners to Hot 97 should be familiar with Shani Kulture, as he can be seen on such programs as “The Realness” with DJ Cipha Sounds, Peter Rosenberg, K. Foxx, and Ebro. Later in the evening, Shani Kulture also has his own show, “The Kulture Movement.” Outside of Hot 97, Shani Kulture is a big New York hip hop figure.

Shani Kulture has gone through a strong year and things are definitely still on the rise for him. Alongside DJ YRS Jerzy and Tindal Enterprises, he is putting together a new mixtape, which is due later this summer. Those who caught the Summer Jam livestream saw Shani Kulture host the emcee battle.

Having known Shani Kulture for so long, this really was more of a conversation than an interview. But, for Hip Hop Vibe, we talked about Shani’s history in the hip hop game, his work with Hip Hop Vibe’s DJ YRS Jerzy, and The Kulture Movement. Be warned, this interview is an hour long.
