For various reasons, the 1990s are considered the golden era of hip hop music. Much of this is due to the official blending of hip hop with R&B and soul music. The 1990s girl groups and singers, including Xscape, TLC, Monifah, and Mary J. Blige were responsible for that blend.
However, since 2006, that style of music has dramatically fallen off, with the likes of Sevyn Streeter and K. Michelle being remnants of that era. A lot of people may not be aware of a new generation that is bringing this back. But, the XSO group is making that happen, pronounced X-O.
XSO was front and center at the Fleet DJs Conference, where they performed their single, “Brand New.” After the performance, XSO gave Hip-HopVibe.com an exclusive interview, speaking with G Moniy. In the interview, they spoke on their “Brand New” single, their goals, touring with Monica, and more.
